YES ABSOLUTLEY, Cultured pearls are often thought of as imitation pearls, but the two should not be confused. Cultured pearls are made of the same material as natural pearls and can take up to seven years to create, depending on the type of pearl. Imitation pearls are often made of plastic or glass and can be manufactured quite easily and quickly. Keep this in mind when you are shopping for pearl jewelry.
Akoya and Freshwater cultured pearls are valued based on Luster, Surface, Shape, Size and Color. We can't put a price tag on the cultured pearl there are too many factors for us to evaluate. We primary focus on the experience you provide to your customers to keep it entertaining
We currently work with four cluttered pearl farmers they both currently uses Akoya as a host of a freshwater cultured pearl, however we find Akoya cultured pearls as we go along. If you find a dark (black or very dark pearl, this cluttered pearl may possibly be a dyed.
We highly recommend staying away from perfumes, hair spray and cosmetics as the ingredients in these products could damage your cultured pearl and destroy the luster that the nacre provides. We recommend that you put your beautiful pearl jewelry on after getting fully ready for the day, and do not spray perfume where your cultured pearls will lay. Store your cultured pearls away from extreme heat. If you must clean your cultured pearls do NOT use a basic jewelry cleaner please use water and a gentle natural soap however only use a tiny amount.
You can think of cultured pearls as "farmed" pearls while natural pearls are "wild-caught" pearls or naturally created. They grow in the same way, but in the case of cultured pearls, they occur because a human 'planted a seed' in that particular oyster, muscle or mollusk.
Natural pearls occur without any intervention by humans. They tend to form more organic and unusual shapes. Less than 2% are perfect spheres or symmetrical.
Cultured pearls are the result of humans inserting seeds (called nuclei or a nucleus for singular) inside a mollusk; they grow in farms and the process is called cultured since there was human intervention
